Vision: Finding a Way through Challenges
Motherhood can be an enormously rewarding experience. It can also be incredibly challenging. Becoming a
mother requires more learning, personal growth, and life change than many women ever expected. Under
the very best of circumstances, nurturing another human being involves hard work.

But circumstances are often not so ideal. For example, a woman may dream of motherhood, yet be unable to
conceive. Or, she may conceive and then experience a miscarriage or the stillbirth of her baby. Her loss may
not be fully recognized by others. A woman may struggle with our culture’s messages of childbirth, wanting to
find a way to address her fears. Or, even after careful planning, the experience of birth may not be what she
expected. People may tell her that her healthy baby is all that matters. But her heart knows she has
something to heal. A woman may want to breastfeed, yet may feel too emotionally uncomfortable to do so. Or,
she may have difficulty breastfeeding. If she weans sooner than she expected or wanted, few people will
recognize her loss. But her heart knows she has something to grieve. A woman may find mothering with
compassion to be much harder than she anticipated. Her heart knows she has something to learn….

During hard times, a woman may need more than friends and family can give. Woman-focused counseling
or consulting can help her find her way. Through LifeCircle Counseling and Consulting, LLC, Cynthia Good
Mojab, MS, IBCLC, RLC provides services for women as they find their way through life's challenges and for
health care providers who work with women during their reproductive and parenting years.
